Work consumed most of my 2024. As a developer, when I say work, I talk about code that is needed for real-life problems. They have a tendency to be important and urgent but not particularly complicated when it comes to programing.
Watching Youtube: The Secret to a Happy Dev Life I felt understood.
In that video, @awesome-coding
, explains that the daily business of a developer can be more about getting things done than solving interesting problems. More interestingly he demoed a pet project of him: a compiler.
It turns out, I’m not alone.
Sometimes, when telling people about my own side projects (like my own BASIC Interpreter) they ask things like: Who needs that? or Do you expect to get rich with this?
Well… it doesn’t matter. I do those projects because that’s why I started programing in the first place. I like do interesting and challenging things. This is what a lot of developers do. It’s where we learn. It’s called happy coding.
